A Line of Support for Latina Survivors
We are proud to announce that Clackamas Women’s Services has been awarded a Verizon Wireless HopeLine Grant for the second year in a row. This year’s generous grant will help CWS provide safety planning and legal assistance for Latina survivors.
Through our emergency shelter and transitional housing program, Clackamas Women’s Serivces consistently serves survivors of domestic violence who are
seeking different forms of legal help. For many of the Latina survivors we work with, obtaining a U-Visa or DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) are the only possible paths to safety and self-sufficiency.
Verizon’s HopeLine Grant will go toward initialization fees for these legal applications, making it possible for 12 women to secure U-Visa or DACA status. With this type of protection, these women will be better able to seek employment, obtain housing and, most importantly, engage in the process of healing from trauma.
We sincerely thank Verizon Wireless for extending this line of support to Latina survivors.
