Building a Strong Foundation
In 1995, Krista and Dave Silvey made an important decision. Although their business, Suburban Door Co., was still growing, they knew from the start that they wanted to give back to the community. They worked together to develop the Silvey Family Foundation. âWe chose to focus our efforts locally to have a bigger impact,â Dave explained. From its earliest days, the Silvey Family Foundation emphasized the special needs of children, women, and families in crisis in the area.
Krista and Dave found a match for this mission and vision in Clackamas Womenâs Services. As Dave explained, âCWS is local, itâs well run, and it fits with our goal of supporting single-parent families and distressed families.â The consistent, generous support of the Silvey Family Foundation over the years has been invaluable as Clackamas Womenâs Services has expanded operations through the collaborative at A Safe Place Family Justice Center, serving more survivors and their children than ever before.
Dave and Kristaâs sons joined the Silvey Family Foundation board three years ago, making the Foundation a multi-generational family effort. Over the last two decades, the foundation has grown in size and scope but Krista and Daveâs active participation and commitment to giving back have remained consistent. On behalf of the Board and staff of CWS, we extend our profound thanks to the Silvey Family Foundation for its deep, ongoing commitment to directly supporting local children and families.
