Dine Out to End Domestic Violence on October 19th!
Local restaurants are partnering with Clackamas Women’s Services to generate awareness and support for survivors of domestic violence in our community. We encourage you to spread the word and dine at these restaurants on Thursday, October 19th!
A portion of profits from these restaurants will support CWS’ vital wraparound programs and services for survivors domestic and sexual violence, child and elder abuse, stalking, dating violence, and trafficking.
Why Dine Out to End Domestic Violence on October 19th? Because it’s Purple Thursday, a National Day of Action when people wear purple to symbolize dedication to domestic violence awareness. Purple was selected as the official color for the first Domestic Violence Day of Unity in 1981, originating from the women’s suffrage movement in the early 20th century. After Congress passed legislation in 1987 acknowledging October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, it’s been universally used to increase awareness.
