A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) offers a simple, tax-efficient way to support your favorite nonprofit organizations. By contributing to a DAF, you can make tax-deductible donations and recommend grants to charities over time. This allows you to maximize your impact, maintain control over your giving, and streamline your charitable contributions. It’s an ideal solution for those looking to create a lasting legacy while supporting the causes they care about.
What is a donor-advised fund?
A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account established with a charitable sponsor (Oregon Community Foundation, Community Foundation of SW Washington, Fidelity Charitable, etc.). A DAF is set up for the sole purpose of supporting charities. The sponsor manages and administers individual DAF accounts including asset management and gift disbursement and helps the donor assess community investment opportunities and connect with the people, causes, and needs that align with their charitable interests.
Making a donation to CWS through your DAF
To recommend a grant to CWS through your Donor-Advised Fund, you will need to provide your charitable sponsor with the following information:
- Clackamas Women’s Services TAX ID# is 93-0900119
- Checks should be payable to “Clackamas Women’s Services” and mailed to: 256 Warner Milne Road, Clackamas, OR 97045
- Please include the DAF fund name, donor’s name, and donor’s preferred contact information with the payment so that we can accurately recognize the grant.
A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) offers several key benefits for charitable giving:
- Tax Deduction: Contributions to a DAF are tax-deductible in the year they are made, allowing you to reduce your taxable income. You can donate appreciated securities, such as stocks, to avoid capital gains taxes.
- Flexibility: Once the donation is made, you can recommend grants to your chosen charities at any time. This gives you the flexibility to support causes as your interests evolve, without the pressure to allocate funds immediately.
- Simplified Giving: A DAF consolidates your charitable donations in one account, making it easy to manage, track, and distribute funds to multiple nonprofits. This streamlines your giving process and eliminates the need to process individual donations.
- Growth Potential: The funds in your DAF can be invested, potentially growing over time. This means your charitable giving can have an even greater impact as the fund appreciates.
- Legacy Building: DAFs allow you to involve family members in your charitable giving, making it an opportunity to create a multi-generational legacy of philanthropy.
- Anonymity: If desired, you can remain anonymous in your donations, keeping your charitable contributions private while still supporting the causes you care about.
Overall, a DAF provides a tax-efficient, flexible, and easy way to give while maximizing your charitable impact.
