Planned Giving

Clackamas Women’s Services (CWS) offers various ways for donors to include them in their planned giving, ensuring that contributions support the organization’s mission to empower individuals and families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of trauma. Here are several methods of planned giving that donors can consider:

1. Bequests in a Will or Trust

Donors can include CWS in their will or living trust, specifying a gift to be made after their passing. This can be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of the estate, or the residue of the estate after other bequests are made. A bequest is a simple and effective way to ensure long-term support for CWS.

2. Beneficiary Designations

Donors can name CWS as a beneficiary on their life insurance policy, retirement accounts (such as IRAs or 401(k)s), or other financial accounts. This allows the organization to receive a designated portion of these assets upon the donor’s death, often avoiding probate and estate taxes.

3. Charitable Gift Annuities (CGA)

A CGA involves a donor making a gift to CWS in exchange for guaranteed fixed payments for life. After the donor’s passing, the remaining balance of the gift benefits CWS. This option provides both a steady income stream for the donor and a future gift to the organization.

4. Real Estate Gifts

Donors can make a gift of real estate to CWS, whether it’s a personal home, vacation property, or commercial real estate. This type of gift can allow for tax deductions, and the property can be sold or used to support CWS’s mission.

5. Legacy Giving

Legacy giving allows donors to create a lasting impact on CWS, with gifts that ensure continued support. Through various instruments like trusts, endowments, and planned gifts, donors can ensure that their values and commitment to CWS live on in perpetuity.
